Salvatore Valentinetti Born on 21.01.1927 in Ortona (CH)
Salvatore Valentinetti, born in music as a violinist, has always been interested in violin making to deal with them professionally for many years.
His training was fundamentally based in the encounter between the practice in the music as a violinist and the great experience in the timber industry, gained as a child in the famous workshop of his grandfather and namesake of his father, known cabinetmakers-carvers.
He has combined these experiences, experienced both professionally and to a unique “job” of music, becoming a talented Luthier.
He directed his efforts both on stringed instruments than on arc, with examples played by leading professionals.
From time his attention is paid to the restoration and construction of stringed instruments, in which has made more than his talent, a great learning experience, activities and actions by deepening – during several stays in Cremona, at best workshops – the School of Violin Making – Museums – Private collections and tools of great value (Museum of the Castello Sforzesco in Milan, the Museum of Musical Instruments of the Conservatory of Paris, the Museum of Bratislava, the Atelier of the luthier and restorer Smith Lyon to Vatelot in Paris).
He developed a particular sensitivity to the techniques for reproducing the original sound of the Baroque period working closely with specialists and scholars such as the violinist Mario Ferraris or organologist Marco Tiella.
Significant its participation in exhibitions and competitions of national and international, since the biennial Ortonese “Violin Making in the South” where he was the creator and consultant to the organization since 1983 – its instruments have been admitted and shown in various Triennial of Cremona, Mitternwald of Germany, Baveno and other exposures smaller.
Liutaria to challenging activities, has placed a ‘teaching concerning the teaching in courses for beginners to Violinmaking promoted by’ Ismez (National Institute for the Development of the music in the South) held in Ortona for different three-year periods since 1983, and ran for the restoration entrusted dall’ECIPA-CNA Lazio Region in 2000.
It led also seminars on violin making at the conservatories of Bari, Foggia, L ‘Aquila and Pescara. The quartet presents can somehow be considered the culmination of his abilities, professional experience and his in-depth study. These are replicas of Stradivarius instruments inlaid prestigious.
